Disney Birthday Trip!

Posted by Justin and Linda Summers on September 16, 2012 at 7:20 PM Comments comments (0)

For those of you who didn't know Justin and I took a trip to Disney for my birthday!  It was so much fun!  We did pretty much everything in the short 4 days we were down there.

We left Thursday night and drove down to South Carolina to break up the drive a little bit.  We got an early start to Florida on Friday and were able to stop and visit Justin's cousin's Heather and Kaylene and Heather's daughter Chailee for a few hours and then it was on the road again to try and make Justin's other cousin Jake's Football game in Palm Bay.  We made it at the start of the 2nd quarter and got to watch him play about 15 minutes before the game got cancelled due to lightening!  It was kind of a bummer that we didn't get to see him play more, but it meant we got to visit with everyone more so that was fun!  We were able to snatch a few pictures of the football star before the game was over.

He's number 55

Next it was time to go to Disney World!  Yay!  First we went to Hollywood Studios and Justin got a great shot at the top of the Tower of Terror

The most awesome thing we did this trip was get all dressed up and go to Victoria and Alberts, Disney's 5 diamond restaurant.  It was absolutely amazing!  Here are some pictures of the meal we had... be jealous!

It was all so gorgeous and delicious I can't even describe the experience, I recommend it for anyone who enjoys food like me!

The second coolest thing we did was we got to experience a sneak peak of Enchanted Tales with Belle!  This attraction is party of the new Fantasyland expansion so here are a few things you will see at the attraction.

The que for this ride takes you through Maurice's cottage, the next few pictures are inside his cottage.

II thought this detail was so cute, this is a portrait of young Belle and her Mom!

This attraction lets you suprise Belle with re-telling the story of when she and the Beast met.  They pull members of the audience in to play different rolls and this little man was the best beast ever!

These are just a few highlights of our trip.  We had a blast and I already can't wait to go again!

Have a Magical Day!  :0)

Packing for your Disney Vacation

Posted by Justin and Linda Summers on September 5, 2012 at 2:25 PM Comments comments (0)

It's two days until my Disney vacation starts and I am SO pumped!  Not suprising to most of you i'm sure, one thing I always love is packing for my trip, it gets me excited and is like the very first part of the vacation for me.  I have seen almost every packing list for Disney there is.  Some of them are SO LONG!  They want me to pack my entire kitchen and living room and it's really not necessary.  I think you can pack for Disney World with everything you need without breaking your back trying to get there!

Here is an example packing list for my Disney Trips...

-what you pack for clothes is up to what you feel most comfortable in, for me it's shorts, tank tops, sun dresses, etc, but a few things you definitely want to pack are:

           - 1 sweater/sweatshirt for inside hotels and mealtimes, they pumpt eh AC down there!

           - one pair of long pants, again in case you spend the day at Disney Quest or some other inside location

           - a nice dress or slacks and a jacket for a guy in case you and your friends/family want to go to a swanky dinner one night

           - bathing suit, one of the best parts of Disney World is hanging out at your resort by the pool and of course the water parks!

-Disney has some awesome apps for iphones and androids if you are good with technology and like that sort of thing, so be sure to bring your iphone and download all those fun apps before you go!

-camera, obviously.  You have to be ready to capture that magical moment when it pops up!

-CHARGERS.  This one is bolded because there is NOTHING worse that having all your camera's, phones, laptops, etc and not being able to use them because you forgot the charger... not cool.

Park Paraphernalia:

-Oversized bag, a lot of people like to go minimalist with their purse so they don't have a lot to carry, but seriously a nice roomy tote will be your bff in the parks.  Souvenirs, drinks, money, extra sweater (everyone elses junk they don't want to hold) it's really a good idea to have something to consolidate all that stuff!

-Sunscreen!   I know your mother drilled this into your head, but seriously you will ruin your vacation if you get sunburned on the first day and you definitely don't want to ruin your vacation!

-Snacks, if you or your kids are like me and want to eat everything in Disney World, be sure to bring a few snacks to stop yourself from buying all the yummy treats.  Although make sure you have Dole Whip, because well it's Dole Whip!

I hope this helps a little with your next packing adventure, and I will be in the Happiest Place on Earth in a few days and hopefully will have a few more goodies for you when I get back! :0)

The Most Magical Place On Earth Is Here...

So if you couldn't tell by the title, or if you aren't my friend on facebook, or if you don't follow me on!/DreamItDoItWDW" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> twitter, you wouldn't know that I was in Disney World for the last 4 days!  This visit was so much fun, I drove down on Sunday (10 hours of jammin to some of my favorite tunes) and got to the World around 5.  I picked up my good friend Sara and the first thing we did was head to Animal Kingdom Lodge and lay by the pool.

This is what I saw...

you really can't beat that!

We met up with our friends Jeff and Ally at Boma, and AMAZING restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge that features African cuisine.  It was an amazing time to catch up with old friends and eat some delicious food!

Now for my second day I went to work.  For those of you who don't know I am a seasonal Disney Cast Memeber.  That means I work for DIsney but only for 150 hours a year.  I go down to Florida for a few days at a time and work wherever I can pick up shifts!  This time I worked at Peco's Bills Tall Tale Inn and Cafe and The Emporium on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom.

My first day at Pecos Bill's was so much fun, even though all I did was bus tables, I really got to interact with guests and I even met a few fellow Hokies!

After work I met up with my friends Sara, Bree, Kevin, and Gracie at Hollywood Studios.

We walked around did some rides (we didn't get to ride Tower of Terror because the line was 60 min and when you're a cast member it just seems wrong to wait that long for an attraction!) and watched Fantasmic! one of Disney's best nighttime shows!

Since you can't just do one park a day, we went to Magic Kingdom for a few hours.  I got some Dole Whip, which for those of you who aren't fortunate enough to have experienced this wonder of modern technology, is a pineaple sorbet that is only sold at Disney World, Disneyland, and Hawaii.  Seriously, so good.

When you're at the Magic Kingdom you have to get a castle shot, this is me and my friend Gracie, we took this picture because Gracie said it would make our mom's happy.  So here ya go Moms!

Working at Disney World is all about making dreams come true, and the second day I made one of my dreams come true!  I have always wanted to work on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom.  I don't know why, but when I was a little girl dreaming of what it would be like to work at Disney World, I thought of wearing the Emporium Costume and working on Main Street USA.  I loved every second of it!  I sang and danced with the parades, I curtsied to little princesses, I soaked in the history of the store, and even found a fellow Hokie that used to work there!  It was an amazing experience and I got to work there two whole days!  Now I can check that dream off my list!

Side Note - i'm sorry I don't have any pictures of my costumes, but I haven't figured out the timer feature on my camera yet, so all my pictures are on my phone and i'm technologically slow and don't know how to get them off my phone... any suggestions??

After work the second day I met up with Justin's cousin Amanda and her two friends Casey and Amy and we went through the Magic Kingdom.  Had dinner, watched the parade, and rode some rides.

Then to cap off our day we  watched Wishes.  This show makes me cry every. single. time.  I can't even describe it so just bask in these photos!

My last day I got to spend at Epcot and see some of the Flower and Garden Festival displays which are so lovely!

After Epcot Kevin, Stephanie, Bryant and I headed to Winter Garden for a chill night of food and wine, it was an awesome Hokie reunion!  Then it was time for the long drive home!  I know it's the same distance both ways, but it just seems longer coming home than it does driving south.

So until next time I venture down to The Happiest Place on Earth, i'll leave you with these words from my inspiration...

"Laughter is timeless, imagination has no end, and dreams are forever" - Walt Disney

Oh the Places You'll Go...

It's another glorious rainy day in Blacksburg, VA.  Gray, overcast, just enough drizzle to be annoying and last all day, just perfect weather for day dreaming about all the lovely vacations I will take one day.  I say I will take them becuase Justin and I love to travel, and we definitely want to make it to as many awesome places on this earth as possible.  Now my top places to visit changes on a daily basis.  Days like today are dominated by lovely sunny weather and beaches that I can lie on for hours and then head off to some quaint little town for a relaxing meal and then go to bed early.  So sit back, relax, grab an umbrella drink, and come day dream with me as we leave our offices in drabsville, USA and explore some of these beautiful places together!

1.  Sicily

I mean seriously who wouldn't want to be on one of those sailboats right now!  Gorgeous mountains, quaint villages, amazing azure blue water... i'll swim there if I have too!

2. The Azores

This lush tropical Island Chain off the coast of Portugal is just gorgeous.  We contemplated going here for our honeymoon, but chose Kauai, HI instead.  Oh well, maybe for our second honeymoon ;)

3. The Greek Isles

I have wanted to visit this spot on the mediteranian for as long as I can remember.  I always here my dad talka bout how gorgeous it is and how it was one of his favorite places the Navy took him.  The stark white of the buildings with the bright blue of the sea is just exquisite!  I can definitely see myself relazing here!

4.  The Disney Dream

You knew Disney was going to creep up in here somewhere so don't even act suprised!  I honestly don't care where it takes me, I just want 7 days on this ship.  Is that really too much to ask?  I don't think so!

5. Bora Bora Hilton Nui Resort & Spa

Ok seriously, who doesn't want to go here?  Just you and your honey all snuggled up in your own private hut in the middle of the water!  They bring you your breakfast by canoe... seriously?  That's awesome.  I WILL GO HERE SOMEDAY!  (don't even think of telling me I won't and bursting my bubble, remember we're day dreaming here!)

Ok well I feel better now don't you?

Enjoy this rainy day :0)
